Job: Policy Officer - International Strategy 

Salary: £32,234 - £35,745 (pro-rata per annum)

Hours: 18 hours per week, part time 

Job type: Fixed term until June 2022 (open to secondments) 

Location: Hybrid working, working from home & Manchester City Centre

Role profile 


Your role: 

 

The GMCA Strategy Team is seeking to develop its capacity to deliver its priorities set out in Greater Manchester’s International Strategy (currently being refreshed) and in particular the development of international partnerships. The role will assist with the organisation of international visits by the Mayor and Portfolio Leader for Economy & Business and the hosting of international visitors in Greater Manchester. It will require close working with key partners including the Department for International Trade, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, the Growth Company and Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce to develop activities that facilitate the delivery of strong and stable bilateral relationships with Greater Manchester’s priority markets.

 


About you: 

 

The person we are looking for will have knowledge of international issues and experience of building international relationships (including economic, cultural and/or diplomatic links). You will be able to use your own initiative and autonomy to make day to day decisions with a clear rationale, and independently manage projects and work programmes as well as proactively engage, build links with and co-ordinate a wide range of collaborative, trusting, effective partnerships. You will also have excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, accurately and in ways that promote understanding to a range of audiences and organisations. This will include producing high quality, timely briefings and correspondence, pulling together complex information from numerous sources. You will also, through personal example, open commitment and clear action, ensure diversity is positively valued, resulting in equal access and treatment in employment, service delivery and communications.
