Role Profile

Your role: -

Workforce planning is a Centre of Expertise within GMFRS. The workforce planning team help to organise the existing workforce and fill gaps caused by natural workforce changes, like promotion and retirement.

• Operational workforce planning – we forecast into the next financial year to help our leaders understand what people will be needed to accomplish our strategy.

• Strategic workforce planning – we forecast over two to five years to help our leaders understand what capabilities will be needed, when they will be needed, and how we can get people there.

• Analytics - providing data, forecasting and analytical products to provide insight to our customers.

• Partnering – we support Area Management Teams with Local Resource Planning processes to ensure the operational workforce in aligned to the ridership requirements.

 

About you: -

As the Workforce Planning Officer, you will lead the Workforce Planning Team and provide support within the Operational Business Support Team. The purpose of the role is to provide data analysis support to the business including the reporting and visualisation of project data and information for business users to make strategic and operational decisions and improvements as well as managing the Workforce Planning Coordinator.

The role holder will have to make daily decisions regarding the information they collate and present. The data will be used for key corporate decisions and published reports, so accuracy of data collation is paramount in this role. They will have to manage the competing demands placed upon them by colleagues across the organisation, prioritising and managing expectations. It’s your chance to work in a varied, fast-paced environment but more importantly, you’ll be supporting a crucial area that’s shaping frontline services for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.

Perhaps you’ve worked as a Data Manager or supported Analytics before. Whatever your background, you must be capable of providing a positive can-do attitude. We’ll expect you to build strong working relationships with a range of colleagues, including senior managers across GMFRS and the wider GMCA.
