Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Waste & Resources team of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA). We are looking to recruit a permanent Head of Commercial Services to join our busy and energetic team.

Greater Manchester is the largest provider of Waste and Recycling services in the UK and has statutory responsibility for waste disposal, including making arrangements for the management and disposal of municipal waste from the nine constituent waste collection authorities (WCAs) and the management of Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs).

 The team manage a number of contracts associated with Waste & Recycling across the Greater Manchester Conurbation and are currently in the final stages of procuring two new contracts, scheduled to commence 1st June 2019. The successful candidate will be pivotal in the mobilisation, management and commercial approach of these very significant contracts from the outset.

 Reporting to the Executive Director, the post holder will be responsible for supporting the contract services and engineering teams in managing the commercial aspects of the contracts. This includes managing contract interfaces, notices of change, claims management, contract interpretation and development of business cases to support commercial decision making.

 The ideal candidate will be a team player with significant experience of in a technical, commercial environment interpreting and analysing contracts and managing commercial risks. Knowledge and experience within the Waste industry is highly desirable, although not essential. You will have knowledge of contract management frameworks.
