Greater Manchester Combined Authority is the fast-paced, exciting heart of devolution in the North of England. Working across a range of policy areas, as well as working with the Mayor of Greater Manchester and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, we are offering a fantastic opportunity to work in the epicentre of local government. 

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, creative and digital-savvy person to join our communications and engagement team. Based at our Head Office in central Manchester, you’ll support the Digital Manager to maintain and create compelling, effective content for a range of digital assets and channels, as well as contributing to a variety of communications projects and campaigns.

You will be responsible for generating high-quality photography and compelling videography content, across a range of subject areas as diverse as homelessness, transport, planning, culture and fire.  

The role will involve writing and editing web copy, coordinating and creating content for our social media and blogging outputs.

You will also be responsible for conducting digital outreach by engaging with external websites, forums or social media spaces and providing best practice guidance on digital to the department and the rest of the organisation. In addition, you will measure the impact of our social media and video outputs using social analytics tools and Google Analytics.

You will need excellent tech skills; being able to competently live-stream events, with an excellent understanding of new digital innovations that can enhance our service offer.

We are seeking a candidate who is educated to Degree standard (or equivalent) who can demonstrate previous experience in a similar role.

With a high standard of written communication skills, you will have excellent organisational skills with the ability to juggle priorities and will be extremely self-motivated. Creative and adaptable, you should be familiar with content management systems and with a variety of social media channels. Great people skills are also important.

Your role: -

Your role will be based in the GMCA offices, in central Manchester but you will be expected to work across Greater Manchester to source and develop content for our channels.  You will be working alongside a team of communication, engagement and media specialists to deliver the highest quality content for both internal and external stakeholders.
