Are you passionate about improving outcomes for Looked after Children and Young People in Care?

We are seeking to employ a dedicated, highly motivated Designated Nurse for Looked after Children and Young People in Care to work with us as part of our Designated Safeguarding Team within the Medical Directorate of Manchester Health Care Commissioning (MHCC). MHCC is a single commissioner for health and social care, comprising a partnership between NHS Manchester Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Manchester City Council.

The MHCC Safeguarding Team work collaboratively and are planning for the Integrated Care System (ICS) with a ‘Think Family’ approach. As a member of the team, the successful candidate will benefit from many opportunities for professional development, particularly in respect of progressing the Looked After Children and safeguarding agenda within NHS Manchester CCG, the evolving Integrated Care System (ICS) and local partnerships.

The role will continue to develop the great work that has been achieved in Manchester whilst ensuring that CCG statutory requirements are met. This will cover all aspects of the health and wellbeing of looked after children, young people and care leavers, linking with our providers, Named LAC Health Professionals, Local Authority Child and Adult Services, Local Police and Local Corporate Parenting Board members. The role is pivotal to complex case management, improved partnership working, strategic planning, quality assurance and performance monitoring.

The post holder will work closely with all the members of the MHCC Safeguarding Team contributing to the think family agenda including areas of shared practice such as transitions into adulthood, care leavers and mental capacity. The postholder will need to be a highly knowledgeable nurse with significant LAC and care leaver experience at both an operational and strategic level.

The post holder will support the Designated Team and Partners to embed effective high-quality safeguarding practices and improve clinical standards and performance outcomes for children and families across Manchester working collaboratively to develop effective partnerships, with multi-agency partners and health providers to uphold the safeguarding agenda.

To undertake this role, the successful applicant will be required to provide evidence that they are fully vaccinated for Covid – 19 as mandated by the Health & Social Care Act amendments July 2021.

The post will be full time permanent position 37.5hr per week.
