Project Manager
Project Management

Are you excited by the opportunity to be part of the team delivering the biggest light rail network in the UK? Are you looking for a challenging but rewarding role that will enhance your skills and knowledge?

Since 2008 the Metrolink construction delivery has been a remarkable achievement, driven entirely by its own success. The network has grown steadily from an ambitious vision in the early 1980s to form part of the fabric of daily life in Greater Manchester. Metrolink has helped to create a modern Manchester and has driven regeneration and employment in all the areas it serves.

When Metrolink opened in 1992, it consisted of 19 miles of track, 27 stops, 26 trams and one depot. The system has now trebled in size to become the largest light rail system in the UK with 93 stops across seven lines spanning nearly 62 miles, with two depots and 120 trams, and we have more plans to grow even further with Trafford Park Line due to open in 2020 and significant other improvement to the overall network currently under way.

The construction of the new Phase 3 Metrolink Extensions requires TfGM to consider the potential compensation claims from residents, businesses and stakeholder within the Limits of Deviation of the works. For example claims that fall into the category of Section 10 of the land and compensation act will have to be considered where land is temporary taken or disruption experienced.

We are therefore seeking a project manager to assist TfGM’s legal team in reviewing compensation claims against TfGM due to Trafford Park Line (TPL) construction works. This is a challenging environment where you will have the chance to grow and build upon your existing knowledge and skills within a leading transport authority. You will be working with a forward-thinking organisation which is pushing the barriers to transform lives and the economy of Greater Manchester.

It is essential that you will have experience of delivering projects to time and budget and working as part of a team but also as an individual on your own initiative. You will also be able to influence stakeholders and build relationships, demonstrate financial awareness and budget management expertise, and will compline and present concise reports to audiences that may range from the political, the professional and the public. Previous experience in the construction industry is desirable.

If you believe you can contribute to our continued success we would like to hear from you.

Please note this is a Fixed Term Contract for 24 months.
