Project Support Officer
Administration

This is a Greater Manchester Health Care and Partnership post. Manchester CCG or Greater Manchester Combined Authority will host the employment of this post on behalf of the Greater Manchester Health & Social Care Partnership (GMHSCP).

The Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership (GMHSC Partnership) is looking for a dynamic individual to support both the emerging Health Checks programme and the wider Population Health team.

Context
On April 1st 2016 Greater Manchester took charge of our Health and Social Care. The GMHSC Partnership is the body made up of the local NHS organisations and councils in Greater Manchester, which is overseeing devolution and taking charge of the £6bn health and social care budget.

Our vision is “to deliver the greatest and fastest possible improvement to the health and wellbeing of the 2.8 million people of Greater Manchester”. As part of this vision, the Greater Manchester Population Health Plan launched in January 2017 to support our people to Start Well, Live Well and Age Well.

The Health Checks programme is a key priority within the Population Health Plan that is to test a Greater Manchester approach to delivering NHS Health Checks within three local authority areas. The NHS Health Check is a risk assessment, awareness and management programme for those aged 40 to 74 living in England who do not have an existing vascular condition, and who are not currently being treated for certain risk factors. This project will transform NHS Health Checks into a service that appeals to more of our population, achieves high uptake, and reaches more of those who can benefit most.

Cardiovascular diseases currently cause a greater burden of morbidity and mortality in GM than in England. Cardiovascular diseases are preventable at the individual and population level, with incidence driven by poor diet, tobacco, alcohol, physical inactivity, and pollution, all greatly exacerbated by socioeconomic inequalities. This project forms part of the wider GM strategy to tackle cardiovascular disease across the whole pathway, from primary prevention to early detection, effective treatment and ongoing support for cardiovascular disease as a long-term condition.

The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to support both the emerging Health Checks programme, in addition to the GMHSC Partnership’s wider Population Health team.

You will be required to undertake a full range of project support including completion of project documentation, monitoring progress of projects, stakeholder engagement and communications support.

You will frequently be required to work autonomously, using your own initiative to find solutions to support your colleagues, completing pieces of work to a high, presentable standard with keen attention to detail. You will be required to organise your own workload with minimal supervision working to tight and often changing timescales.

This role is both suited to those with relevant recent NHS or local government experience, as well as those educated at degree level and are looking for a first project management role in the NHS or wider public sector.
Interviews will likely be held on 17th or 18th January 2019 in central Manchester. Alternative interview dates are unlikely to be made available should the requisite pool of candidates be sought.

For an informal discussion about this opportunity please contact Thomas Daines, Population Health Programme Manager (thomas.daines@nhs.net) or Katie Bretherton, Population Health Project Manager – Health Checks (katie.bretherton1@nhs.net).
