THE OPPORTUNITY

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Waste & Resources team of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA). We are looking to recruit a second permanent Band 8 Contract Manager to join our busy and energetic team.

Greater Manchester is the largest provider of waste and recycling services in the England and has statutory responsibility for waste disposal.  This includes making arrangements for the management and disposal of municipal waste from nine constituent waste collection authorities (WCAs) and the management of 20 Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs).

The team manage a number of contracts associated with waste and recycling across the Greater Manchester Conurbation and are currently in the final stages of procuring two new contracts, scheduled to commence 1st June 2019. Reporting to the Head of Contract Services, the successful candidate will be pivotal in the mobilisation, management and performance management of these very significant contracts from the outset, and along with the existing post holder will be responsible for the operational and performance monitoring of GMCA Waste and Recycling contracts. This includes:

·         managing existing and developing new processes, systems and procedures

·         providing high level technical advice and guidance

·         developing effective partnership arrangements with all stakeholders

·         ensuring all targets in the Waste Strategy and Corporate Plan are met.

The ideal candidate will be a team player with significant experience of collating, interpreting and analysing performance data and have demonstrable advanced Excel skills. You will have knowledge of contract management frameworks.
