Help make Greater Manchester a better place to grow older

Greater Manchester Combined Authority is made up of the ten Greater Manchester councils and the Mayor, who work with other local services, businesses, communities and other partners to improve our city-region. The GMCA gives local people more control over issues that affect their area. It means the region speaks with one voice and can make a strong case for resources and investment.

The Opportunity

In March 2018, Greater Manchester became the UK’s first age-friendly city region, international recognition from the World Health Organization for the plans we’ve put in place to improve the lives of older people. Working as part of the Greater Manchester Ageing Hub, you’ll be helping deliver these plans so older residents in GM are able to contribute to and benefit from sustained prosperity and enjoy a good quality of life.

We set up the GM Ageing Hub with our partners to coordinate a strategic response to the challenges and opportunities of an ageing population. You’ll be providing flexible administrative support across programmes of activity which includes work and economy, age-friendly places, healthy ageing, housing and planning, transport, and culture.

Who we need

You’ll be directly affecting the lives of all older people in Greater Manchester – and all of us as we age – so our ideal candidate will be passionate about making a difference. We’re looking for someone with experience of delivering effective administrative support to deadlines and working on multiple areas of activity with changing priorities. You’ll also be experienced at drafting or writing communications material such as web content or news stories.

Applicants of all ages are strongly encouraged.

Main Responsibilities

·        To provide flexible administrative support across the full range of GM Ageing Hub activities to support the delivery of the Greater Manchester Age Friendly Strategy

·        To provide support to the Hub’s steering group and task groups, including arranging meetings, taking minutes and proactively following up on actions

·        To provide diary support for the Head of the Greater Manchester Ageing Hub.

·        To produce a monthly electronic newsletter for the Ageing Hub, gathering information from key partners, editing and writing content

·        To maintain and update the Ageing Hub web pages, ensuring the content is current, accurate and relevant
