Are you an ambitious and experienced commercial management professional, keen to challenge yourself in a highly responsible and demanding role which offers the opportunity to drive value and continuous improvement across a broad and challenging range of infrastructure programmes and projects?

This is a busy and exciting time for TfGM: under the devolution agreement and with Greater Manchester at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse, transport will play a vital role in supporting growth and prosperity in the UK’s largest regional economy outside London.

In this role you will be responsible for managing a team of both internal and external resources, controlling and reporting all costs and liabilities associated with various modal capital programmes as well as supporting a number of other non-infrastructure related capital and revenue funded projects across TfGM’s wide-ranging portfolio.

You will be able to build and maintain strong relationships of trust with contractors and consultant Partners and will be confident working with internal colleagues and external stakeholder, including district partners. You will have strong experience in commercial delivery of projects, cost-effectively from inception to completion, including knowledge of risk management and commercial reporting, with extensive negotiations skills, knowledge of industry standards and experience with various construction contracts including NEC.

You will be enthusiastic, ambitious and hardworking with the necessary experience and professional background to fulfil this role and become an important member of the Commercial Function leadership team within TfGM’s Projects Group. You will have strong experience in, and knowledge of, the contract management lifecycle (especially in relation to service based contracts) with extensive negotiations skills, knowledge of industry standards and will be conversant with various forms of contract.
