ABOUT US

Greater Manchester is one of the country's most successful city-regions. Home to more than 2.7 million people and with an economy bigger than that of Wales or Northern Ireland, our vision is to make it one of the best in the world to grow up, get on and grow old. In 2017 Greater Manchester elected a Mayor who, along with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), has additional powers and responsibilities devolved from the Government. Working closely with the ten Greater Manchester Councils that make up the GMCA, this gives local people more control over issues such as transport, regeneration, homelessness and attracting investment into the city-region.

As an employer, the GMCA is made up of a number of key Greater Manchester strategic functions and service providers including the office of the Mayor of Greater Manchester; Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS); police, crime and criminal justice; homelessness; culture; environment; work and skills; and the Greater Manchester Ageing Hub.

GMCA’s Communications and Engagement Team is responsible for ensuring that all parts of the GMCA has a coherent, consistent and coordinated approach to communications and engagement, all of which is delivered to a high standard. We work with numerous stakeholders, including our own colleagues, journalists, officers in partner organisations, elected members, members of the public, and industry experts.

We value the diversity of our employees, and aim to recruit a workforce which reflects our diverse communities across Greater Manchester. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified individuals, irrespective of people's age, disability, gender, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or other personal circumstances. We have guidance in place to ensure that all applicants are treated fairly and consistently at every stage of the recruitment process, including the consideration of reasonable adjustments for people who have a disability.

The GMCA is an Equal Opportunities Employer and we positively welcome applications from all candidates regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation
