Location: A combination of Churchgate House, Oxford Road, Manchester and the Violence Reduction Unit at Stretford Police Station, but will cover the Greater Manchester region.
Role Profile
Greater Manchester Combined Authority are inviting candidates to apply for the role of Lead Analyst within a newly developed Violence Reduction Unit for Greater Manchester. The role will be an ideal opportunity for a 12 month secondment or on a 12month fixed term contract (there may be the opportunity to extend the contract for a further 12 months subject to satisfactory performance and funding). This is an opportunity to have a direct impact on Greater Manchester’s understanding of and response to serious violence across the city region, working with a range of partner organisations to shape and deliver effective strategies, policies and interventions to make a significant impact on the root causes of violence.
Under the Home Office’s Serious Violence programme, funding has been made available to establish a Violence Reduction Unit in Greater Manchester. The Violence Reduction Unit will take a public health approach to preventing and tackling serious violence, including knife crime, within Greater Manchester. We require a Lead Analyst to support the establishment, to support with the development of a Greater Manchester violence strategic needs assessment and response strategy, supporting the development of an outcomes framework which aligns to Greater Manchester’s Serious Violence Action Plan and other relevant strategies. The role with work alongside the Violence Reduction Partnership Lead (from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority) and Superintendent with responsibility for Violent Crime from Greater Manchester Police. The successful applicant will have proven experience in developing partnerships with key stakeholders, strong analytical expertise and experience of managing complex projects from start to finish. They will be self-motivated and able to deliver high quality products under time pressures. They will be working side by side with partners representing education, the VCSE sector, health, police, youth justice, youth empowerment and public health, to build the foundations of a long-term solution to serious violence in Greater Manchester.
This post will be based between the Violence Reduction Unit at Stretford Police Station and Churchgate House in Manchester City Centre, but will cover the Greater Manchester region.
